US Government Considers Travel Ban on 43 Countries

The Trump administration is contemplating a ban on entry to the US for individuals from 43 countries, including Cuba and Venezuela, according to internal documents. This proposal categorizes countries into 'red' and 'orange' lists, with varying degrees of restrictions for travelers.

The Government of Donald Trump is considering the possibility of banning entry to the United States for people from 43 countries, including Cuba and Venezuela, according to internal information obtained by The New York Times.

According to the outlet, there is a draft within the Republican Administration that classifies countries into three categories based on potential restrictions on entry to the United States. Eleven countries are on the "red list," which would mean a total ban on entry to the United States, including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen.

Officials consulted by The New York Times mentioned that these lists were drawn up by the State Department a few weeks ago and are likely to see modifications before they reach the White House. Additionally, the draft also included an "orange list" of 10 countries whose travel might be restricted, but not suspended, including Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Turkmenistan.

In the case of the "orange list," there is the possibility of allowing entry to wealthy business travelers after an interview, but entry would be prohibited for those traveling with immigrant or tourist visas. It is still unclear whether individuals with valid visas would be exempt from the ban.
